Other growing areas include Khorasan, Semnan and Yazd. The crop is also grown in Yazd Province, where <a href=\"https:\/\/surfiran.com\/mag\/dowlat-abad-garden\/\">Dowlat Abad Garden<\/a> is a notable cultural landmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"when-is-the-pistachio-harvest\"><\/span>When Is the Pistachio Harvest?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main picking season generally falls between late August and October, although exact dates depend on the cultivar, location and weather. <a href=\"https:\/\/agris.fao.org\/search\/en\/records\/64724a7c2c1d629bc979d2c3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research from Iran\u2019s Pistachio Research Institute, indexed by FAO AGRIS<\/a>, identifies mid- to late September as an appropriate harvest period for several studied cultivars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The harvest is followed by rapid hulling, sorting and drying. These steps help protect the quality of a crop that is sensitive to handling and storage conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"four-familiar-iranian-pistachio-varieties\"><\/span>Four Familiar Iranian Pistachio Varieties<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iran grows many pistachio cultivars. Four widely traded types are <strong>Fandoghi<\/strong>, a smaller round nut; <strong>Ahmad Aghaei<\/strong>, an elongated type; <strong>Kalleh Ghouchi<\/strong>, known for its large, rounded form; and <strong>Akbari<\/strong>, a long, large nut.
