The historic area of \u200b\u200bHowzdar, located 62 kilometers southwest of Zabul city, was in the delta of the Ramrud branch. This area was inhabited during the Parthian and Sassanid periods<\/a>, as well as from the middle Islamic centuries until the early Qajar<\/a> period, and finally, it was abandoned due to the change of the Hirmand river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important archeological works and evidence left in the Howzdar area are urban remains consisting of small and large buildings, which, according to the evidence, belong to the late Islamic era and include all kinds of buildings, including citadels, fortresses<\/strong><\/a>, residential houses, tombs, etc., which has considerable density and diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The historical area of Howzdar, with an area of \u200b\u200babout one thousand hectares, is one of the most important cultural and historical areas in the north of Sistan and Baluchistan province. The historic monument of Rostam Castle was built in the Howzdar area and according to archeology experts, it was the height of the glory and prosperity of this castle during the Safavid dynasty. The works of windmills<\/a> are also located in this region as the first man-made machine, which is one of the important tasks of cultural heritage to pursue the global registration of these windmills.<\/p>\n\n\n
