The historical Aqa Naqi Bathhouse<\/strong> or Zahir-ol-Eslam<\/strong> is among these historical buildings, located directly opposite the entrance to the Sheikh Safi mausoleum<\/strong> in Ali Qapu Square, deriving its name from the founder of this bathhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally a bathhouse<\/strong> built by a person named Zahir-ol-Eslam<\/strong> during the Ilkhanid<\/strong> period, the site has undergone additions over the past 200 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reconstruction of this bathhouse began in the Qajar<\/strong> era with the purchase by a person named Aqa Naqi Motmen al-Ro’aya<\/strong>, hence bearing the names of both individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Pahlavi<\/strong> era, it retained its function as a bathhouse until the late 1940s, serving as a local spot for bathing. However, the women’s section was demolished during the construction of a new street, leading to its disuse until it was purchased by the Cultural Heritage Organization<\/strong> in 1998 and subsequently renovated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2001, it was transformed into the Ardabil Anthropology Museum<\/strong>, showcasing the lifestyle, customs, traditional attire, and culinary practices of Ardabil’s people through wax figures and collected historical manuscripts and artifacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bathhouse features three main sections: the sarbineh<\/strong>, the warm house, and the Chal Hoz<\/strong>. The central part of the sarbineh is square-shaped<\/strong>, covered with a high dome. Platforms within the bathhouse, remnants of the Pahlavi era, are adorned with various plant motifs and images, adding color and elegance to the space. An octagonal pool, extended with channels to the platforms, allows for foot washing before stepping onto the platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
