It expanded substantially under Reza Shah and remained associated with the Pahlavi royal family. Associated with Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, it is the estate\u2019s largest palace. Its interiors combine Iranian and European decorative traditions, with reception rooms, private rooms and collections of furnishings and tableware. Look at the contrast between formal entertaining spaces and rooms arranged for domestic life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Green Palace (Shahvand Palace).<\/strong> Reza Shah used this residence. Its green stone exterior distinguishes it from the White Palace; inside, mirror work, gilding, stucco and khatam inlay show several Iranian decorative crafts in one building. These details make it a useful second choice for visitors interested in interiors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fine Arts Museum.<\/strong> The building is also known as the Black Palace because of its dark marble. Its paintings and sculpture offer a different focus from the royal domestic interiors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Choose a specialist collection.<\/strong> The complex includes the Mir Emad Calligraphy Museum, museums devoted to Hossein Behzad and Mahmoud Farshchian, and collections of royal clothing, kitchen equipment and vehicles. Arrange the final approach to the entrance you intend to use, naming Sa\u2019dabad and the gate rather than relying on the estate\u2019s general map pin. Darband and Zafaraniyeh are useful geographical references; the estate has several historic entrances, which should not be assumed to operate identically for visitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A manageable visit.<\/strong> Start with one palace interior, walk through the grounds, then add the second palace or a specialist museum. Leave time for the return walk to your exit. Comfortable walking shoes and a light layer are useful in this foothill setting. Travellers with limited mobility should ask specifically about the route between their chosen buildings and access inside them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tickets and opening arrangements.<\/strong> Before buying, ask which interiors are included in the ticket offered and which are open. The museum list describes the estate\u2019s collections rather than guaranteeing that every building operates daily. Darband offers another option for spending time in northern Tehran. It suits a second palace-focused outing or a longer day with fewer interiors at each site.
