As the first Armenian cathedral in Tehran<\/a><\/strong>, it served as the city’s primary cathedral until 1970. Built during the Pahlavi era<\/strong>, Saint Mary Church<\/strong> has become a cherished location for the Armenian community<\/strong>, especially for those living nearby. Architect Nikolai Markov<\/strong> designed this beautiful structure, which houses notable Armenian figures such as Yeprem David Davidian<\/strong> (known as Yeprem Khan) and Hovhannes Khan Masihian<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the Armenian Diocese<\/strong> moved its headquarters to Saint Sarkis Cathedral<\/a><\/strong>, the neighboring buildings became home to charitable, educational, and research organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installation of a bust of Dr. Haratoon Davidian<\/strong> has further established Saint Mary Church as a cultural and religious center for Tehran\u2019s Armenian community<\/strong>. In 2002, the church was registered as a national heritage site under the number 7237.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint Mary Church<\/strong> is located on Mirza Kuchak<\/a> Khan Street<\/strong>, off Jomhouri Avenue<\/strong>. The closest metro<\/a> station is Ferdowsi, approximately one kilometer away. Alternatively, visitors can take the Line 4 BRT to Jomhouri Square, then transfer to a bus heading to Baharestan Square and disembark before the Ferdowsi intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
