Iran was among the top breaking news in the world in the last week. Everybody was waiting to see how would US-Iran continuous conflict advance. Many thought the US was on the brisk of a war which wouldn’t be an easy one.
The stresses and strains raised after Iran’s top military commander, General Qasem Soleimani, was assassinated by a US drone strike in Iraq. Then Iran took action in response and carried out a ballistic missile attack on airbases housing US forces in Iraq.
The political issues ceased after the senior officials of the two countries showed a tendency to decrease the escalation of a probable war in the region. “We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression.” Said Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran.
Donald Trump had said that targeting Americans would provoke a strong US response and everybody’s speculation was that America could be on the brink of war. Then Mr. Trump tweeted and the tone shifted – “all is well!’ he said – the world seemed less sure. The lack of casualties of US troops was crucial to what the president did next.
On the whole, it seems that it is just the civilians and normal people’s lives that get influenced by the nations’ political adventures. And this is not the first time we see these types of conflicts which is intended to increase the pressure so that they can have the upper hand and benefit most when negotiating.
So is it now safe to travel to Iran?
No doubt it is. Iran has always been safe for tourists despite the engineered picture projected in the mainstream media. Now that the dust is settling down, everything is going back to normal and people can visit the country with no concern.
For instance, Germany’s largest airline Lufthansa said it would resume flights to Tehran after earlier canceling its daily flight to the Iranian capital due to the situation in the country. So, it’s time for you to decide to come visit the country with your own eyes and see the real picture of Iran.
