From route discussions to the July 2017 launch
The original May 2017 report, attributed to AviationIran, described talks between Austrian Airlines and Shiraz airport officials. Austrian Airlines later confirmed that its first Vienna–Isfahan–Shiraz service departed on 2 July 2017. The carrier announced four weekly flights, with a stop in Isfahan, in its 3 July 2017 press release.
That launch announcement confirms the service operated in 2017. It should not be interpreted as evidence that the route still operates today.
