This photo essay follows a SURFIRAN day trip from Isfahan through Naein and Varzaneh to the desert landscape near Hassanabad. The journey took place in August 2016 and is presented here as an archive of that trip rather than a current tour itinerary.

From Isfahan to Naein
The group left Isfahan early in the morning and drove east to Naein. Stops included a traditional aba-bafi weaving workshop, the historic quarter, Naein’s Jameh Mosque and Pirnia House before lunch.
Varzaneh and the desert
The route then continued toward Varzaneh and the sandy landscapes around Hassanabad. The photographs below document the changing scenery, dunes and moments from the 2016 excursion.
