Gilan

Gilan is where Iran turns green. It rains often, rice paddies run almost to the Caspian shore, and the tea gardens begin just outside Lahijan.

Our articles here cover Rasht, Masouleh with its stacked houses on a steep valley side, Bandar Anzali and its lagoon, the village of Subatan in the Talesh mountains and the open-air Gilan Rural Heritage Museum. Read the Gilan travel guide first if you are planning a few days in the province.
